Rasburicase Injection (r-DNA origin)

Rasburicase Injection is a recombinant enzyme used to prevent and manage high uric acid levels caused by rapid breakdown of cancer cells, particularly during certain cancer treatments.

Product Details

Rasburicase Injection (r-DNA origin) is a recombinant urate oxidase enzyme used to prevent and treat elevated uric acid levels in patients receiving chemotherapy for certain cancers. It helps rapidly break down uric acid in the blood, reducing the risk of complications associated with tumor lysis syndrome.

Key Benefits
- Helps rapidly reduce elevated uric acid levels
- Used to prevent and manage hyperuricemia associated with cancer treatment
- Helps reduce the risk of complications from tumor lysis syndrome
- Supports kidney protection by reducing uric acid accumulation
- Provides rapid uric acid breakdown during high-risk chemotherapy
How It Works
Rasburicase is a recombinant form of the enzyme urate oxidase. It converts uric acid into allantoin, a substance that is more soluble and easier for the kidneys to eliminate. This rapid reduction in uric acid helps limit uric acid accumulation following the breakdown of cancer cells.
Common Side Effects
- Fever
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Headache
- Abdominal pain
- Rash
- Edema
- Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
Important Information
Rasburicase should be administered by qualified healthcare professionals experienced in cancer treatment. It can cause serious allergic reactions and hemolysis, particularly in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. Patients should be evaluated for G6PD deficiency when clinically appropriate, and rasburicase is contraindicated in patients with known G6PD deficiency. Blood uric acid and other laboratory parameters should be closely monitored during treatment.
